My sister and I are heading to Krabi for 4 days after an organized tour with my mom. (Thanks to everyone who suggested Krabi -- great idea.)

Railay is a great beach, although overcrowded with day trippers now, which means lots of long tail boats.As Jay said, not that much shopping, and all at inflated prices as Railay Beach is not accessible by road. If you "live" there you will be commuting in the opposite direction all the time and afterdark, that gets VERY expensive. Answer 1 of 3: Hi I hear beaches are nicer in railay but more choice of accom and restaurants in ao nang.
